Plenty. Racism was first and foremost. In the minds of the perpetrators, evolution justified slavery and racism in all its forms. Oh, if they only stuck with the Bible! For Genesis teaches us that we are all cousins. Yes, all human beings are related. We are all sons and daughters of Adam, and even more of Noah. The more science grows and develops, the more clearly the evidence displays creation and the flood. The church would be huge now if it had stood strong on scripture and solid science.
But, I believe God allows error. Just as He allows sin, He allows error. Someday, that will not be the case, but for now it is. I know of a godly Christian pastor who wrote extensively on the history of white persecution against blacks. He details many episodes and the sinful acts of whites upon blacks, and yet he forgives them. He believes whites should own up to their sin more than they do, but he forgives them. That is wonderful of him. However, he does not mention at all how evolutionary theory was the powerplant driving the sin of racism. How sad. If he could see how evolution drove human thinking toward racism, it would be such a blessing for him and his message.
And, sadder still, evolution is still being taught as fact in all public education, and most Christian education. The Church will not touch the subject, for the most part. And that error has led to more sin. The LGBTQ+ movement is built on evolution. Think about it. That God didn’t create, that there is no God, that the God of the Bible is a creation of mankind and an attempt to control people, all stems from centuries of evolutionary thinking. And LGBTQ+ is now one of the most violent movements in the world. Most of the recent assassination attempts have been related to the LGBTQ+ movement. Yet, just plain old sin is what it really is. Because when you don’t believe the Bible and say “there is no God” or “the God of the Bible is a fake” or “God never said that, you’re lying”, you are in sin.
